We have a special place in our hearts for people who are impacted by disabilities and those who surround them. Our most important role is to make sure they, and their families, know how much they are loved by Jesus. In order to do this, we use our resources, gifts and talents to meet both physical and spiritual needs.
It would be great if we could paint a pretty picture for you, but the reality is that life is especially difficult for many of the families that we meet. Parents provide constant care for their child with little to no support. In many cases the children, even adult children, rarely leave their homes.
As we work to empower families to help their children, we prioritize sharing God’s love & salvation through building relationships. We collaborate with local churches, teachers and community members so they can continue to share God’s love with these children and families. In doing so, we have seen attitudes start to change.
We’ve seen families who felt shame begin to feel acceptance. Families who have experienced the oppression of guilt are beginning to find freedom in Jesus. Families who felt like they were all alone in their situation are finding connection with other families who are in similar situations. Families who felt the weight of discouragement are now feeling the hope that we all have in Jesus. Their children are understanding that they are loved by God and that they have a purpose in this world. We are helping them identify and unlock the gifts they’ve been given and are seeing their confidence soar!
There is still much work to be done, but we are making progress in the right direction with partners who desire to make an impact.
